Below Deck: What Does Kelley Really Think About His Relationship with Jennice?
The Season 2 deckhand is full of regret when it comes to his onboard fling.
When you think of Season 2 of Below Deck, the fleeting romance between Kelley Johnson and Jennice Ontiveros is probably the first thing that comes to mind. Love seemed to bloom almost immediately after these two deckhands hopped aboard the Ohana, and it cooled down just as fast by the end of the reunion — so much so that it looked like they might never be on speaking terms again.
Kelley's sister Amy Johnson revealed that her brother had not been in contact with Jennice during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, and it looks like that's been the case for quite some time. The Daily Dish recently caught up with Kelley, and he said that he and Jennice had "unfortunately" not spoken since the Season 2 reunion.
"We both did things that we could have done better, but the reunion was a foot-in-mouth situation for me," Kelley told The Daily Dish. "I truly care about her, and I hate that she felt so hurt. She's a great girl and has a great heart. I wish her nothing but happiness."
In fact, Kelley told The Daily Dish that the way he ended things with Jennice is one of the biggest regrets of his time on the show. "I was told she wanted to move in and all these weird rumors, but instead of talking about it with her, I put up walls," Kelley said. "I have a tendency to hop into relationships and get too serious too quickly, so I wanted to go slow when we got back to Ft. Lauderdale. Instead, it came out all wrong and she got hurt, and that's not what I wanted."
So does all of this mean that we should stop shipping "Jelley" for good? Probably yes as far as romance is concerned, but Kelley didn't count out the possibility of he and Jennice striking up a friendship once again. "You never know what the future holds," Kelley told The Daily Dish. "I am not someone to hold grudges, especially when that person meant so much to me. So yeah, I would definitely be friends [with Jennice] again."
Stay tuned for a full update on Kelley's life after Below Deck on The Daily Dish.
