Bella Hadid Says She Struggles with Lyme Disease "Everyday"

The #RHOBH daughter and model gets real about her illness.

Nearly a year after Yolanda Hadid revealed that two of her children, Bella and Anwar, are battling Lyme disease, her supermodel daughter has opened up on Snapchat about her ongoing struggle with the illness. In a moment simply titled "everyday," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughter put her daily routine on display, showing her arm with an IV in it.

Yolanda, who also has Lyme disease, first addressed her children's diagnosis last October at the Global Lyme Alliance inaugural gala. Since then, she has continued to share her Lyme journey with fans.

In November 2015, Bella discussed how having Lyme disease has changed her life. “It affected my memory, so I suddenly wouldn’t remember how to drive to Santa Monica from Malibu, where I lived,” she told ES Magazine. “I couldn’t ride [horses]. I was just too sick. And I had to sell my horse because I couldn’t take care of it. If I’d had the chance to succeed in riding, I might not have modelled. I didn’t know that I was going to get sick.”

Yolanda said that because of her illness, Bella had to forfeit her dream of competing in any equestrian events during the 2016 Olympics. "Bella had to give up her lifelong dream of having a professional riding career and a shot at the Olympics due to her severe symptoms and inability to ride," the #proudmommy wrote in a cast blog in 2016. "This was the biggest heartbreak of her life and an extremely sensitive subject for her. She is resilient and focused on a new direction—she's made a name for herself in the modeling industry while she struggles with symptoms of chronic Lyme every day."
