Ariana Madix Says This Is “Very Weird” About Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz's Relationship

It's not every day that you have to work with your ex, but it's also not every day that your friends get to be there too, witnessing the whole messy situation. Take it from Vanderpump Rules cast members and sandwich shop mavens Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney, who have been both the ex and supportive friend in plenty of dramatic onscreen moments.

During the "STEW vs. SUR" interview panel at BravoCon 2023, moderator Jenni Pulos asked the cast members (as well as VPR's Scheana Shay, Below Deck Mediterranean's Aesha Scott, Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Daisy Kelliher, and Below Deck's Fraser Oleander) what it's like to have a relationship play out on screen. Maloney joked that her marriage and subsequent divorce from Tom Schwartz, which was featured on Vanderpump Rules, had been "a joy."

After Pulos asked Maloney if she and her ex were on good terms, the Something About Her owner shared that they're simply on "terms."

"We're fine. We're fine," Katie added. "We share the dogs, so we talk about that. But I don't know, he really... I don't know."

From there, Ariana commented on the situation.

"I think he, like, has a crush on you. It's very weird," Ariana said. "I mean, we all do, but..."

"He should," Katie quipped.

What's more, during the Vanderpump Rules cast's previous panel, "SUR’ving Up the Latest With Vanderpump Rules: Presented by Lay's," Tom said that he was "happy not to be spiraling anymore" after his divorce, which helped him "grow a lot" and turned him "a little introspective." He also gave Katie quite the compliment. 

"Hi Katie, you look fabulous," said the TomTom owner, prompting his ex to reply that he looked like a "couch."

During "STEW vs. SUR," Katie jokingly doubled down on her comment, noting that it was something Tom had said about himself earlier in the day when discussing his jacket.

"Listen, I saw him this morning and he said 'My jacket looks like a couch.' So today, when he said 'you look nice,' I said he looks like a couch," she explained. "He walked right into that."
