Andy Cohen Knows It's a Little "Odd" That He Opened His Book with Joan Rivers' Funeral
The #WWHL remebers the late comedy legend in his latest tome.
There are a lot of juicy moments in Andy Cohen's latest book release, Superficial: More Adventures from the Andy Cohen Diaries, but the Watch What Happens Live host also included a number of poignant moments in his life. In fact, the book begins on the day of Joan Rivers' funeral. Joan, who had made several appearances on WWHL, died in September 2014. In many ways, choosing to use that date to kick off the candid tome was a nod to his prior release, The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year.
"The book starts about a week after my last books ends. You know, I certainly thought it was an interesting and odd way to start it, starting it at Joan Rivers' funeral," he told The Daily Dish. "But it's the date that I started writing the book. The last book starts on the day that I went to DVF's fashion show a year before. So it was exactly a year later. It just worked out that way."
That connection certainly wasn't lost on the Watch What Happens Live host. "Towards the end of the Andy Cohen Diaries, Joan Rivers passes away, and then in the beginning of Superficial, it's her funeral; so it's a weird kind of bookends."
The book is an in-depth look at Andy's life from September 7, 2014 through May 30, 2016 and includes him opening up about his love life, his encounters with celebs (from Taylor Swift at the Met Gala to John Mayer's run-in with ex, Jen Aniston), and his relationships with the Real Housewives, which you can hear more about, below.
