Andy Cohen and Aretha Franklin quite literally spilled the tea recently. You see, the soul diva invited the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host for a spot of the drink -- and Andy thinks he knows exactly how he ended up on a date with the "Respect" singer.

He shared all about it during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Wednesday night, after he dished that he's currently not keeping a diary (as he did before penning his two memoirs). "I'm not. That's two years in my life and it just became existentially exhausting," he said. "I actually had the occasion to have tea with the queen of soul last month, Aretha Franklin, and I was like 'I think I might need to start writing another book.' So I did write that down."

That's all well and good, but we really want to know what he chatted about with the music legend. "She summoned me to tea. I think she really wanted to pry me for information about the Atlanta Housewives, if truth be told," he said. "Well, I thought she wanted to collab with me on something. But the amazing [thing] was at the end of the conversation she said — we hung out for about 40 minutes — and she said, 'Well, let me get your number.' And I said, 'Great.' And she put me down in her phone as 'Mr Cohen-slash-Housewives,' which was so great 'cause if I met you at a bar, and I was like 'Oh man, let me get your number.' I would put like 'Stephen WASP Southerner.' So I'm 'Mr. Cohen Housewives. I like it when she booty texts me later."
