How to Watch

The Summer House cast member addressed the topic during a recent sit-down with Us Weekly, saying she wanted to start a family “within the next couple of years.”

“I’m 32. I’m turning 33 this summer. I’m not getting any younger,” she said when asked about her pregnancy time frame. “We were just with some friends who were a little older, and they were like, ‘Just freeze your embryos now just so you have them.’ They’re like, ‘This is the right time, this is the right age to do it.’ And it made me really nervous thinking about, ‘OK, I can have kids right now, but this is the time I have to prepare for the future, depending on what happens.’”

Is Amanda Batula's husband, Kyle Cooke, ready to have kids?

Amanda confessed she doesn’t know if Kyle is ready to become a father, as he usually hesitates to make big life changes, such as entering parenthood; however, she’s confident her hubby would rise to the occasion if and when it happens.

“I think Kyle has historically always felt that he needed everything lined up,” she explained. “When it was getting married, getting engaged, getting an apartment — everything, he’s always felt he needed to be 100% ready for [it], like, prepared. Even with our dogs, he was so hesitant, and now that we have them, everything is great.”

Amanda Batula jokes she'll have to "trick" Kyle Cooke into getting her pregnant

Amanda said she knew Kyle would be “an amazing father,” as demonstrated through his interactions with kids. She gushed over Kyle’s relationship with his niece and nephew and said he was “such a natural” at holding their friends' babies, while she was a bit more nervous. All she has to do now is “get [Kyle] fully on board.”

“I think it’ll be a situation where I’m just going to have to, like, trick him into getting me pregnant and then he’s going to thrive once it happens,” she joked. “But if you ask him if he is ready, he’s always going to say no.”

Amanda shut down pregnancy speculation in mid-March, shortly after fans got a closer look at her and Kyle’s marital issues in Summer House Season 8, Episode 4. The two spoke candidly about their lack of communication and tendency to sweep their problems under the rug.

“We love each other,” Kyle said in the March 14 broadcast. “We know we want to start a family. But we’re really good at procrastinating and not dealing with our issues. I actually really respect how much effort Carl [Radke] and Lindsay [Hubbard] are putting in to improve their communication. I want to make sure that we’re putting in the work.”
