Adam Rippon Chats Johnny Weir's Rumored Jealousy: "I'm Not Coming for His Job"
The Olympic figure skater came to spill the tea on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Adam Rippon is such a Bravo super fan, he already has his Housewives tagline figured out. The Olympic figure skater once tweeted: "My [tagline] would be: 'My blades are sharp, but my tongue is sharper.' So basically, I'm ready whenever [Andy Cohen] is."
Though he hasn't cast Rippon as a 'Wife just yet, Andy was ready for Rippon on March 6, when he invited the charming athlete to appear on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. And, like any good WWHL guest, Rippon was full of fabulousness — and ready to spill the tea on topics ranging from Johnny Weir's rumored jealousy to having celebrity fans. Let's dive in, shall we?
First, on the WWHL After Show, a caller asked Rippon to share his thoughts on a Page Six story that alleged that figure skating commentator Weir was jealous of all the attention Rippon got during the Olympics. "I think maybe [it's true]," Rippon said. "But you know what? I'm not coming for his job." He added: "We didn't really have any interactions [during the Olympics], but we've always reached out to each other [in the past] and I've always thanked him because I kind of feel like he helped make my way a little bit easier."
This situation sounded familiar to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville, who also appeared with him on WWHL. "It's like when there's a new Housewife, everyone gets a little jealous," she assured Rippon. "That's all it is."
Speaking of things that might make others jealous, the topic then switched to Rippon's legions of celebrity fans. Everyone from Britney Spears to Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Paulson has expressed admiration for the young skater. So, which fan left Rippon the most starstruck?
"I think it's Andy [Cohen]," Rippon said. He added that he'd had two Old Fashioned cocktails, and that — coupled with the fact that he was sitting in the Clubhouse — made him feel that he'd "made it."
The skater also dished on what it was like to meet his celebrity crush, Shawn Mendes, at an Oscars after-party. Watch the clip below to get the scoop on the encounter, during which (of course!), Rippon was wearing a leather harness.
