10 Things You Didn't Know About Kathryn Edwards
Learn more about the newest addition to the #RHOBH family.
Kathryn Edwards is the new kid on the block on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but we already know some of her dirty laundry. From pretty much the moment we met her, we learned that Kathryn had been married to NFL hall of famer Marcus Allen, who was one of O.J. Simpson's best friends. But then the plot thickened when we heard Kyle Richards' friend Faye Resnick wrote a book about her friend and O.J.'s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, in which she alleges that Marcus had an affair with Nicole, implying that set O.J. off to murder her.
You got all that? Good, because Kathryn and Faye will come face to face at the same dinner table during Tuesday night's upcoming episode of RHOBH, and it looks like things get tense. We all know how well dinner parties go when Faye is around, after all.
However, Kathryn's life cannot and should not simply be defined by her connection to an infamous murder case that happened more than 20 years ago, especially because she's such a fabulous woman in her own right. Read on, and you'll find plenty more reasons why Kathryn is so fascinating, below.
1. She's Not Originally From the 90210
When Kathryn made her debut on RHOBH last week, you may have detected an accent from the blond bombshell, and not one from California, either. Kathryn was actually born and raised in Wisconsin, and it looks like she's going to bring that down-to-Earth midwest attitude with her to RHOBH. Well, she'll at least bring her love of the Green Bay Packers.
2. She Had an Impressive Modeling Career
We learned on RHOBH that Kathryn was once a big-time model who even ran into Yolanda Foster on castings. But to get the full idea of just how fierce Kathryn was, you've got to check out the throwback modeling pics she has posted on Instagram. Kathryn even has the distinction of posing in Nike's first "Just Do It" campaign. Kathryn did it, and she did it well.
3. She Was on Married with Children
Kathryn admitted on RHOBH that she never really caught the acting bug like her longtime friend Lisa Rinna. However, Kathryn did appear in the Married with Children episode "Dead Men Don't Do Aerobics" as one of the lovely sidekicks to TV fitness guru Jim Jupiter. With all of the beauty and charm Kathryn brought to the screen, it's kind of surprising she didn't pursue the acting thing any further.
4. She Didn't Set Out to Marry a Football Player
Kathryn and her first husband Marcus.
Kathryn divorced Marcus after eight years of marriage and then married her current hubby Donnie Edwards, another former NFL player for the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, in 2003. Clearly, football players are Kathryn's type, but that wasn't always the case. Kathryn "had grown up a basketball fan and had absolutely no interest in football," her first busband Marcus wrote in his autobiography. Hopefully, Kathryn has learned to love the sport over the years.
5. Her First Wedding Was at O.J.'s House
O.J. Simpson.
Though Kathryn maintains that a lot of what Faye wrote in her book Nicole Brown Simpson: The Private Diary of a Life Interrupted isn't accurate, it is true that she and her ex-husband Marcus were close to O.J. Kathryn even asked the former football star if the couple could have their wedding at his Brentwood, California home in 1993, and they exchanged vows under two big trees in O.J.'s backyard, according to Marcus' autobiography. A year later, Hard Copy got its hands on Kathryn and Marcus' wedding video and aired it during the coverage of O.J.'s trial.
6. She's Supports the Military
Kathryn's husband Donnie may not be in the NFL anymore, but he still keeps busy. Donnie serves as the director of community relations for The Greatest Generations Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting America's war veterans, and he has been involved with the organization since 2011. Kathryn can often be seen with Donnie showing vets how much their duty means to this country.
7. She's a World Traveler
Take one look at Kathryn's Instagram feed, and you'll get some serious vacation envy. When she's not in Beverly Hills, Kathryn is doing some major globetrotting, hitting spots such as Deer Valley, Utah, London, Berlin, and Italy within just the past month. Kathryn, can you please take us with you on your next adventure?
8. She's an Animal Lover
We expect Kathryn and Lisa Vanderpump to hit it off, considering they both love their furry friends. She supported the RHOBH restaurateur's march to protest China's Yulin Dog Meat Festival. Kathryn also has pics of some amazing-looking animals all over her Instagram profile, from dogs to cheetahs to bees. It sounds like some new puppies may even be on the way for Kathryn and Donnie in the future. We certainly hope so!
9. She Looks Like a RHONY 'Wife
RHONY's Aviva Drescher.
Kathryn may be new to The Real Housewives franchise, but one Twitter user thinks she bares a striking resemblance to The Real Housewives of New York City alum Aviva Drescher. "TY very kind. Kathryn is gorgeous," Aviva responded on Twitter. Kathryn was similarly grateful for the comparison writing, "Thanks Aviva, I consider it a compliment, you're gorgeous!" Awww, can't you just feel the love?
10. This Is Her Biggest Weakness
Kathryn is a strong woman, but she does have her Kryptonite. "I'm a shoe fanatic," Kathryn said in the above video for Bravotv.com. "It's my biggest weakness." She's particularly wild about a lace-up pair of black Gianvito Rossi booties right now. However, her favorite shoe designer of all time is Manolo Blahnik. "I'm a Manolo junkie," Kathryn said. We can't wait to see more of Kathryn's stunning footwear on RHOBH this season.
