There’s Actually a Perfectly Logical Reason Why 3 of Prince Harry’s Exes Showed Up at Princess Eugenie’s Wedding

And their presence at the royal wedding had little to do with the Duke of Sussex.

By Morgan Ashley Parker

Typically, most people don't invite exes to their weddings — we’re looking at you, Prince Harry — and even the most understanding of partners may balk at the suggestion. Still, here we are again with some of the ladies once linked to our favorite red-headed prince popping up at another royal ceremony.

Let’s set the scene: It’s October 12 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, the same place where Prince Harry married Meghan Markle back on May 19. Princess Eugenie, first cousin to Prince Harry (as the daughter of Prince Charles’ younger brother Prince Andrew), married her partner of eight years, Casamigos' U.K. Ambassador, Jack Brooksbank.

Even with all the famous celebrities at the ceremony, it was impossible to miss that three of Prince Harry's ex-girlfriends were also in attendance. However, after a deep dive into their royal (and non-royal) connections, we realized this is a veritable spider web and it’s actually Princess Eugenie (and her now-husband) who spun it all.

Let's get caught in... errr, up.

Chelsy Davy

Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry dated on and off from 2004 to 2011. They met in 2004 when she was a boarding student at the Stowe School in Buckinghamshire (Hint: Remember this fact; it will come in handy later), and in 2011, she attended Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton.

Naturally, with seven years’ time associating with the family, it’s safe to assume she would have become friends with the princess. In fact, they're still friends as they run in the same society circles. However, her bigger connection to the couple is likely through the princess’ husband, Jack Brooksbank, who also attended Stowe School at the same time as Chelsy.

Oh, and as for who she showed up with? None other than Harry’s childhood pal Charlie van Straubenzee and his wife Daisy (you know, the wedding Prince Harry attended on his wife’s birthday).

Cressida Bonas

Prince Harry dated Cressida Bonas from 2012 to 2014 after being introduced by his cousin … wait for it … Princess Eugenie. Really there’s not much more to say except, oh yeah, she also went to Stowe School.

It’s not clear if she knew Chelsy from her time at Stowe (she’s a few years younger than Jack and Chelsy’s 32 at age 29), but it’s yet another coincidence. Since the actress seems to have known Eugenie longer than she's known Harry (and is still a close friend), it’s no surprise that the jewelry company founder also received an invite to this royal wedding.

Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding is the only one of the prince’s exes who scored an invite to his May nuptials, but did not attend. Prince Harry and the singer were never official, but rumors circulated after they were reportedly caught kissing under a blanket at the Audi Polo Challenge in June 2016.

She’s also been a pal of the royal family for quite some time — in fact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited Ellie to perform a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" at their 2011 wedding reception. (Ellie did not, however, attend Stowe School.)

If you’re sensing a trend, she’s actually still pals with Princess Eugenie to this day, and the two are regularly spotted out together. In fact, it’s also rumored that Eugenie introduced Ellie to her fiancé, Caspar Jopling.

So, if there’s any takeaway here, it’s that Princess Eugenie has a lot of friends, and seems to be a rather good person to know if you’re single and looking to be set up.

In closing, let's take a moment to appreciate how lovely Prince Harry's actual chosen life partner — Meghan Markle — looked at the ceremony. Just because we can.
