Michelle Obama Reveals She Did IVF for Both Pregnancies; Once Again Proves How Amazing She Is

By opening up, the former first lady helps women struggling with their own infertility.

Michelle Obama gets real candid in her new memoir, Becoming, even opening up about her own struggles with infertility. As if we didn’t love her enough already.

The former first lady wrote that she felt “lost and alone” after suffering a miscarriage 20 years ago while trying to get pregnant, and so she turned to in vitro fertilization for some help. She underwent IVF twice to conceive her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, now 17 and 20.

"I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were, because we don’t talk about them,” the former first lady said on Good Morning America on Friday. “We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken… I realized that as I was 34 and 35, we had to do IVF. We had to do IVF... I think it is the worst thing that we do as women, sit around and not talk about our bodies."

Michelle, 54, reveals much more in the book, set for release Tuesday, even knocking Donald Trump for “encouraging wingnuts and kooks." She said the night she learned he won the presidency, she tried to “block it all out.”

She goes on to write about growing up in Chicago’s Southside, dealing with racism, her family, and becoming the country’s first black first lady.

Oh, how we missed you, Michelle.
