Here's Why Khloe Did the Right Thing by Having Tristan in the Delivery Room
It was actually very mature of Khloe — after all, she was putting her baby daughter, True, first.
It’s easy to say Khloe Kardashian should have shut out her cheating boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, right after she found out about his multiple affairs. Many people would have, which is understandable. But she’s standing by her decision to let him in the delivery room to witness their daughter True’s birth—and it was the right thing to do.
She explained her thoughts on Twitter following Sunday’s dramatic episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, writing, “Regardless of what Tristan did to me, I was never going to take that moment away from True or Tristan. She should not be punished for his actions. He is her father and they both deserve to love one another as deeply as They possibly can #KUWTK.”
Khloe went on to tell fans, “A birth is not something you can ‘redo.' Once you make that choice you can never get it back #KUWTK think big people.”
She chose to be mature during a time of emotional turmoil, even while explaining that she was in shock, too.
"This is something I've been waiting for my entire life," she told the cameras. "I don't want to take away anything from this moment, and I have always been a believer of 'Don't make permanent decisions off temporary emotions.'"
But with her momager, Kris Jenner, and sisters Kim and Kourtney also in the delivery room, the Cleveland Cavaliers player didn’t get a total pass. Kim made faces and repeatedly made a cut him off sign behind his back.
“I’m normally always ready for war. I was definitely in shock and so defeated emotionally that I just wasn’t in a place for it,” Khloe explained. “So I appreciate that she [Kim] was! #KUWTK.”
Kourtney went at Tristan too; after he saw his newborn daughter for the first time, Tristan remarked, "Girls change your life.” Kourtney snapped back, "We can only pray."
Khloe only heard that as the episode aired, tweeting, “I love savage Kourt,” in support of her sister.
It's unclear where the couple stand as of now, but they will be spending Thanksgiving together, which Khloe confirmed by showing handwritten placeholders for guests on Instagram Stories. Tristan was one of them.
If you search for people's thoughts on whether you should let a guy who has cheated into the delivery room, you'll find a nearly unanimous "no" on the topic. One woman wrote to The Bump for advice, and nearly every woman who answered said to shut her cheating guy out.
"While it is the birth of his child, it's more about you than the baby at that point. You don't need the stress of having him in there, and that's ultimately what's best for you and the baby," wrote one user.
Another wrote, "Nope. He shouldn't have cheated. Bad actions have consequences, and he shouldn't get to share that special moment with you. If I were in your shoes I would 100% absolutely not have him there. I probably would send a text AFTER the baby was out."
"Hell no!! He walked out on you, his child & his obligations. A phone call should be all he gets," said another.
So here's to Khloe, for being able to see past her anger to allow for a beautiful moment. And, she added, she did in fact get her rage out — pre-labor. She said, “Oh well I did [some] not so mature things the day prior,” she wrote, adding emojis for a knife, tears, and a fist, “but I needed to get that out of my system. Namaste all the way in the hospital.”
