Katy Perry Used to Date Josh Groban ... And Wrote a Song About It?!
The singer had quite the surprised reaction on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Last year, during a weekend-long live broadcast on her YouTube channel, Katy Perry admitted that she used to date singer Josh Groban when they were young, and that he was "the one that got away." She also put out a song called "The One That Got Away" on her third album Teenage Dream in 2010, which begins with the lyrics, "Summer after high school, when we first met/We make-out in your Mustang to Radiohead/And on my eighteenth birthday, we got matching tattoos."
Josh got visibly embarrassed when a caller on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen asked what he thinks about the song and her declaration.
"Did you used to date?" Andy asked.
"We did, and we were both very private and we realized we were better as friends," Josh said. "We're very, very good friends to this day, she's the best. But I was not expecting that, that was a double take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that... It's very sweet of her to say that, but I listened to the lyrics and I'm like, but I never had a Mustang! I don't have a tattoo. Are you sure that's about me?"
