A California native, Tyler Anderson was only 16-years-old when he began to learn about the craft of cooking in restaurant kitchens. Each experience helped him develop his culinary skills, his palate and eventually, his personal cooking style. Tyler has been mentored by some of the best chefs in the business including Charlie Trotter, Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris. In 2012, Tyler fulfilled his longtime dream of becoming a restaurant owner, opening Millwright's Restaurant and Tavern in Simsbury, CT, where he crafts inspired New England Cuisine. Chef Tyler has been nominated four consecutive years in a row for the prestigious Best Chef Northeast James Beard Award (2014-2017), and in 2014 was named Chef of the Year by the Connecticut Restaurant Association. A father or three, Chef Tyler is involved in many philanthropic works including The American Liver Foundation, Ct. Farmland Trust and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. He is also the Chef Chair for The Taste of the Nation Hartford event supporting Share our Strength in their fight against childhood hunger.
