Fredrik Eklund and Ryan Serhant Give Their Honest Opinions of MDLNY Newbie Steve Gold

Fredrik Eklund and Ryan Serhant feel like they have given birth this season of Million Dollar Listing New York. That's because they're helping to introduce a brand-new MDLNY agent to the world: Steve Gold. "Yeah, we basically just had a baby," Fredrik joked to Bravotv.com ahead of the season premiere, with Ryan seconding that. 

In keeping with this analogy, Fredrik compared Steve joining the MDLNY crew to when his brother welcomed a third child to the family. "The whole dynamic changes," Fredrik said. "And I think that's kind of what happened, in a good way." 

So expect to see some "sibling rivalry" between Fredrik, Ryan, and Steve this season. "Because we have a growing relationship, we're becoming friends, and then I have all these issues with Steve later on in the season. I think [Ryan does] with Steve in the beginning of the season, just watching the trailer. Everything's kind of changed," Fredrik shared. "And this, to me, feels really exciting right now. I'm loving this season, and I can't wait to watch it cut and air."

Though Fredrik and Ryan said they both missed having Luis D. Ortiz be a part of this season, Steve brings something totally new and exciting to the table. "It's nice to see someone else and see how they manage the same city that we've been managing for the last six years, on television anyway. He's totally different," Ryan explained. "So it's fun, it's different, it's cool." 

Fredrik said that after watching the season premiere, he was happy to see that Steve could hold his own in the cutthroat world of New York real estate on MDLNY. "There's big shoes to fill, he's coming in, it's a whole new crew for him. We've been doing this for so many years now, so watching that episode, I loved it, because I felt like he really adds something. He's not like us, he's very different, different energy. He dresses different, he looks different, that hair of his, and the beard, it's all very different," Fredrik shared. "I can't wait to see his personal arc and what happens with him this season."

Ryan said that he thinks fans will enjoy seeing Steve on MDLNY for his personal story — as well as six-pack. "People will like watching him grow as well. The same way one part of the world liked watching Luis and Luis grow and watching his journey, they'll do the same thing to Steve," he said. "And he'll attract a whole new female audience and male and gay audience. Everybody. Even straight. I freeze-framed on a few moments." 

Indeed, no one can deny that Steve is easy on the eyes. "I think it's amazing. And that's what people want to see," Fredrik said. "People are gonna rewind, take a picture, rewind, pause. It's hilarious."
