There Was a Princess Diana Tribute in Meghan Markle's Post-Pregnancy-Announcement Outfit
Eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed something special about the Duchess of Sussex's outfit.
All eyes around the world were on Meghan Markle yesterday as she stepped out for her first public appearance since her pregnancy announcement. Royal Bump Watch 2019 is on (!) as the Duchess of Sussex appeared in Sydney with Prince Harry on Tuesday as part of the couple's royal tour. For the big day, Markle picked out a white sheath dress that is so in line with her style formula. She paired her streamlined white dress by Australian designer Karen Gee with a trench coat — and a pair of earrings that looked familiar to eagle-eyed royal watchers.
A blog devoted to the Duchess' style called Meghan's Mirror traced Markle's butterfly earrings back to Princess Diana. Harry's mum wore the earrings in 1986, about a year after Harry was born. That is incredibly sweet that Meghan wore them for this special occasion!
Markle famously paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing Diana's emerald-cut aquamarine ring as the "something blue" for her wedding reception this past spring. Not to mention Markle's engagement ring, which includes two diamonds that once belonged to Diana as well. For all these emotional milestones, Meghan has found a way to honor Princess Diana and her iconic sense of style.
