Is This Dress Meghan Markle's Response to Her Off-the-Shoulder Controversy?
See what the newlywed royal wore for her first solo engagement with the Queen.
Meghan Markle and the fashion house of Givenchy are on the best of terms: The newly-appointed Duchess of Sussex turned to the brand that designed her unforgettable wedding gown for a look for another very important day. For her first solo public engagement with Queen Elizabeth this morning, Markle wore a custom beige belted Givenchy sheath with an intriguing twist. The dress includes a cape top for a dramatic silhouette.
Markle seems to love this neutral color palette lately, and it's not the first time Markle's worn a cape dress. She opted for a billowing black Stella McCartney cape dress in April. Is it just a coincidence, though, that the Duchess of Sussex chose this very-covered-up dress for the queen, in light of the faux controversy over whether her off-the-shoulder dress from last weekend was too revealing? This Givenchy cape is the exact opposite of the off-the-shoulder trend.
This outfit is incredibly polished regardless, and it looks like the newlywed followed the Queen's ever-important royal style rules too, stockings and all!
