Lupita Nyong'o Found the Classiest Way to Show Some Extra Skin on the Red Carpet
This look is everything.
Lupita Nyong'o sparkled on the red carpet at the National Board of Review Awards on January 9. In an all-black look from Balmain, the actress gave definitive proof that elegance isn't limited to one-piece looks.
From the designer's pre-fall 2018 collection, the outfit featured a high-neck crop top with silver buttons along its structured shoulder. On the bottom, the actress wore a long, glittering skirt and black sandals that showed off a dark pedicure.
The color was no accident. On Instagram, Nyong'o's stylist Micaela Erlanger posted a photo of the look and added the hashtag #timesup. By wearing the somber but dressy hue, the Oscar winner showed her support for the Time's Up movement, which was also a focus at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.
If Nyong'o seemed to glow, it's at least in part because makeup artist Nick Barose dabbed her gorgeous skin with Lancôme's's new Custom Glow Drops, which won't will officially drop until the springtime. (Being the brand's historic first black ambassador has its perks!)
Stylist Vernon François provided the star's strking, asymmetrical hairstyle. Drink in the whole effect:
While her red carpet look was totally winning, the Black Panther star did lose out on tickets to watch the film on its opening day! She relayed the hilarious anecdote on Instagram, still wearing her sparkles and glam.
So if anyone has a ticket to spare, Nyong'o may be interested in being your plus-one ...
