Top Chef Judge Gail Simmons "Loved" the Surprising Take on American Food in This Surprising Place
Hint: It's in Colorado.
Ever wonder how Top Chef judges make use of their time off in between grueling hours on set? Well, here's an answer. They sometimes support local sports teams — like Gail Simmons did, for example, in the final installment of our digital series, Gail's Day Off. The episode takes place at a Colorado Rockies game in Denver, and stars Gail at a baseball game with her fellow judges Tom Colicchio and Graham Elliot — and it shows exactly what makes Colorado ballparks unique.
"At Colorado stadiums you don't just get a dog — you get like and elk dog or a bison dog," Simmons told Jet Set in a recent interview, highlighting the elk dog she ate — and "loved" — in the episode alongside Elliot, who opted for a reindeer dog. "These days, going to stadiums isn't just peanuts and popcorn."
Besides interesting proteins, the Colorado Rockies stadium is home to even more gourmet-level offerings. Intrigued? Press play on the video above to watch Simmons rate a few of them... and enjoy the game, of course!
