Here's Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Inspiring THIS Honeymoon Trend
This couple thinks outside the box — even when choosing a honeymoon destination.
No doubt about it: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's May 2018 wedding will be the event of the year. And, for many engaged couples among mere mortals, it will be the wedding to beat — or at least to emulate as much as possible. The celebrated couple has already inspired lovebirds to seek out banana wedding cakes, castle-like venues, and custom engagement rings.
The prince and his main squeeze also have many brides and grooms-to-be googling honeymoon resorts in Botswana as we speak. The African destination not only offers top-notch safaris, you see; it has a special tie to Markle and her beau.
The couple visited the dreamy destination when they first started dating in 2016, and then almost a year later when Harry whisked his future bride to Botswana's Meno-a-Kwena luxury camp for her 36th birthday. And later still, when the prince designed Meghan's sparkler, he placed a solitaire diamond from Botswana at its center. What a sweet way to come full circle!
Since Markle and Prince Harry's engagement was announced, wedding-industry experts have seen a significant uptick in searches related to Botswana honeymoons. We have a feeling Meno-a-Kwena is about to get very crowded... and in the meantime, there are no signs that the prince and future duchess will stop visiting the country anytime soon.
Markle is a passionate traveler, and Prince Harry — a patron of Rhino Conservation — has been visiting Botswana regularly since he was just 13 years old.
