You needn't be present to win at the Billboard Music Awards. Or maybe that rule just applies to Adele? Though the British chanteuse wasn't in the house to accept her statuettes last night, she did make one appearance to thank fans via Skype—and she also gifted the world with the premiere of her new video "Send My Love (To Your New Lover.)" Now, technically, this is a breakdown of Adele's perfect-for-summer look. But it's also an excuse to listen to the hypnotic song again, which you know you want to do.

With that out of the way, here's more about the look. Adele is wearing a flowery Dolce & Gabbana gown that she chose with help from her stylist, Gaelle Paul. Paul told Billboard that she and the singer considered some sequined dresses—you know, Manus x Machina fever and all— before honing in on the bohemian-style gown. First, no sparkles shine as bright as Adele's voice. (So cheesy; so true.) And second, throwback fashions just suit the star. "The flow-y elevated hippie kind of thing that has been going for three to four seasons now,” Paul told Billboard. “It’s a great trend —I love the ‘60s and ‘70s references—and Adele wears it beautifully."
