11 Total Rockstar Looks From the 2016 Billboard Music Awards
Where else can one wear a mint-green stole?
The 2016 Billboard Music Awards played out in Vegas last night, and the style did not disappoint. Though looks ran the gamut from sleek to princess-y, our favorite styles were the ones that screamed rock 'n' roll. After all, a music awards ceremony—in Las Vegas— is the perfect place to take some risks. Let's delve into the most fabulously gutsy looks of the evening.
1. Jessica Alba
Jessica, is that you? The Honest Company CEO looked like a total boss in an black, lacy dress by Zuhair Murad. Throw in some thigh-high boots, a geometric bun, and winged blue eye makeup—from The Honest Company, of course—and you've got yourself one rocker-chic ensemble.
2. Laverne Cox
Let's wave our lighters to the V-neck that stole the night. Cox looked like a total glamazon in her Michael Costello gown, accessorized with glittering gold jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz. Fun fact: Costello shared that the whole gown is machine-washable. (But, we kind of doubt Cox headed straight home to do laundry last night.)
3. Britney Spears
No one's looking at Britney like she's a little girl. (Yuk, yuk.) Last night, she hit the red carpet in a sheer, black one-piece from Reem Acra. The pants-optional look had a sweeping train, and she capped it off with towering cage boots by Schutz. Pay attention to these boots, btw: they're shaping up to be a hot look for summer.
4. Demi Lovato
With a bouclé jacket over a lacy camisole, Demi Lovato's Chanel look was half ladies-who-lunch, half rockstar minx. (Okay, mostly the minx thing.) We're also loving the leather gloves. Tres Lagerfeld.
5. Rihanna
Rihanna belted out "Love on the Brain" in a mint-green stole. Enough said.
6. Ciara
Hostess Ciara had the mostess looks—seven, to be exact. While each style was eye-catching (and body-skimming!) our pick for "badass look" is this sweetheart neckline gown. Worn with a choker and thigh-high Brian Atwood boots... well, the look's not exactly sweet. And that's just how it should be.
7. Kesha
Kesha made a triumphant return to the spotlight with a soulful rendition of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me, Babe." The singer also paid homage to Dylan with this eggplant suit, embroidered in gold, by Nudie. She complemented the look with tasseled Gucci loafers—and a necktie.
8. Z LaLa
Wondering exactly how many people it takes to get Z LaLa ready to walk in this dress? Three, at least. But man, was it worth it.
9. Madonna
Madonna saluted Prince in a regal look custom made by Gucci. The three-piece suit—purple, of course—was splashed with golden paisley prints, and she wore a frilly lace blouse underneath.
10. Keke Palmer
Hello, latex. Palmer managed to pull off this, um, form-fitting look from House of Harlowe with panache. And if she was "sweating from the inside," as she told reporters, it certainly didn't show. To us, Palmer looked like one (uber) cool customer.
11. Steven Tyler
Tyler upheld his reputation as the conummate rocktar last night in a triped suit paired with high-heeled boots and a cluster of silver necklaces.
