Ice Cream-Filled Donuts Are the Genius Invention We Didn't Know We Needed — Until Now
Must. Have. Immediately.
There are all kinds of gimmicky donut creations out there these days—everything donuts. Spaghetti donuts. Sushi donuts. But here's one we can finally get behind, and we can't believe it's taken so long for someone to come up with it.
Meet the ice cream-filled donut, a summery treat that we need to get our hands on ASAP. Officially dubbed the "Halo," it's being made by B Sweet Dessert Bar in Los Angeles (time to make a trip to La La Land?). It's your choice of ice cream flavor—vanilla, mint chip, cookies and cream, rocky road, chocolate malted crunch, or ube—sealed inside a hot glazed donut, according to the shop's website.
Just how is this magical treat created, you wonder? Well, the shop shared details of how each Halo is made on its Instagram account. First, they take a hole-less glazed donut and slice it in half. It's filled with a scoop of ice cream, then "heat pressed" back together "in "our not-so-secret" machine, according to the post. It's made to order while you watch, which makes the $5 price per Halo seem totally worth it (if it didn't already).
They are, of course, highly Instagrammable, but look delicious to boot. It's the perfect ice cream sandwich: warm, chewy dough on the outside, with cool, creamy ice cream on the inside. Totally genius.
