Everything You Need to Know About The Dior Cruise Fashion Show
Also know as: The Bella show.
So, you know everything you need to know about Louis Vuitton's new Cruise collection. Ready for the next crash course? Let's switch gears to Dior. (Yes, that French brand that just nabbed Bella Hadid as the face of its makeup.) Last night, Dior presented its latest collection in the gilded halls of an English palace. And if you weren't glued to the Snapchat play-by-play, here's a quick primer on what went down.
1. The Setting
The show took place at Blenheim Palace. Christian Dior himself once showed dresses here in 1954; his successor, Yves Saint Laurent, also used its posh confines for a show in 1958. At yesterday's event, models walked a hand-painted runway that featured hunting scenes.
2. The Models
Let's just face it: Bella stole the show, here. Mommy Yolanda agreed, posting a photo of her daughter captioned with a bright red heart emoji.
3. The Celebs
In a black-and-white dress (by Dior, of course), Kate Beckinsale was one of the many celebrities who filled the front row. Other famous guests included Bella's BF "The Weekend," Emma Roberts, Kate Mara, and Kiernan Shipka. Several of the celebs were whisked out to the palace from London in a Dior-branded train.
4. The Inspiration
As Dior continues to search for a new creative director (Raf Simons stepped down from the position last fall), in-house designers Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux took the reigns on this collection. The duo was inspired by high society's wanderlust in the years following World War II, which resulted in wardrobes that blended inspiration from England and France. The collection featured plenty of tweed, along with tea dresses in exotic prints and jackets decked with hunting scenes. The collection also played up layers, with models sporting skirts over flared pants and shirts topped with vests.
5. The Instant Classic
If we learned anything from this show, it's that scarves make excellent bracelets. We also predict that the gold-heeled booties, featured with several of the looks, will form an instant waitlist.
