Elle Fanning Wore an Haute-Couture Unicorn at the Cannes Film Festival
This dress was made for Elle, literally. Her name is on it!
Most unicorn-obsessed 19 year olds would be content with a unicorn frappe or maybe unicorn frappe-inspired hair. Not Elle Fanning. The actress convinced Vivienne Westwood to create a custom strapless gown for Cannes with a train covered with a hand-painted unicorn. Vogue reports that a team of 10 people worked for more than 300 hours to create the dress, and the results are amazing.
Here's the train of the gown, in all its glory. There's a big backstory behind the artwork: it's inspired by a painting from 1624 and besides the unicorn Elle requested, Westwood included Elle’s name on the dress's train twice.
Elle's stylist Samantha McMillen got photos of all the details, and even Elle's rings were on-theme. This isn't the only designer unicorn dress we've seen lately: Margot Robie wore an Alexander McQueen unicorn dress last year. Looks like the unicorn trend really is here to stay.
