As mama to three young kids, I know this about motherhood—it’s exhausting, it’s messy, and you’re not often given time to focus on yourself. When shopping—which is something we moms rarely have time to do—I find myself gravitating to the kid’s section to replace worn-out sneakers and too-tight leggings. When getting a pedicure (another rarity), I’m checking my phone for SOS texts from the babysitter. For moms with older kids, it’s the same story with different details—checking for text alerts that practice ended early and they need a ride home, or that college is so fun they accidentally missed their flight this morning. Which isn’t to say that being a mom isn’t rewarding, believe me, it is a hundred times over, but it’s a marathon job that can be grueling at times.
