Because We're All About That Boho: How to Get the Global Chic Look in Your Home
Worldly accents that will transform your space...and maybe even perk up your aura.
I’ve got to admit, I love a little boho. It started with a pouf, then another, plus some Moroccan pillows, a throw…Before long my Pinterest had morphed into an explosion of vibrant rugs and art, rattan chairs, nomadic treasures and eccentric-looking houseplants. There’s just something so appealing about the texture and warmth of these objects, a soulful, one-of a-kind quality. And they add a dash of color and intrigue to any space, whether your style is toned-down and spare or bold and eclectic.
So why has boho all of a sudden become the rage? Justina Blakeney literally wrote the book on bohmenian decor, and her super popular blog, The Jungalow, chronicles trends in this earthy design movement. She attributes the shift to a reaction to sterile minimalism. “People got tired of austerity and restraint and now instead want to lean into just being creative and having fun—oh, and COLOR!” And let's not forget comfort and usability, too (just like we saw in this week's Cyrus vs. Cyrus Design to Conquer).
How to get the look? Top on Justina’s list of boho must haves are botanical wallpaper, colorful rugs, peacock chairs, textile art, pillows with tassels and plants —but most importantly “following your heart and getting a little bit wild!”
Here are some covetable items to start with…
