Beyond Bella, Gigi and Kendall: Follow These New It Models on IG During NYFW
Get to know these stunners before they land a Vogue cover.
We obviously have major love for Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters, but it's a great big Fashion Week out there. If you already follow fashion's reigning models of the moment and your Instagram feed needs to be even more glamorous and insider-y, we got you. Just in time for New York Fashion Week, here's a rundown of crazy gorgeous top models and models on the rise.
If you're hoping for Fashion Week's behind-the-scenes scoop and fresh-from-the-runway snaps, add these stunners to your "follow" list today.
1. Lineisy Montero
Lineisy Montero seemingly walks in every single runway show. (Note: an actual stat is 61 in a single season.) She’s everywhere! That’s why it’s hard to believe she’s only been on scene since she made her runway debut at Prada’s fall 2015 show. Lineisy’s clearly on her way to supermodel status.
2. Hanne Gaby Odiele
Hanne Gaby Odiele’s been at the very top of modeling, with Alexander Wang, Chanel, Balenciaga, and Prada on her resume. Hanne has made headlines as an intersex advocate, sharing that she was born with XY chromosomes. “I want to live authentically as who I am and help to break down the stigma that intersex persons face—but also to use the profile that I’ve built through modeling to give back to those without a voice,” she told Vogue. “I want to be there for people who are struggling, to tell them it’s OK—it’s one part of you, but it’s not who you are.”
3. Camille Hurel
Newbie Camille Hurel officially walked in the most Spring 2017 runways, according to Vogue France. The 6-foot-tall Parisian brunette booked 52 shows, including Dior, Givenchy and Valentino. Must be nice!
4. Selena Forrest
Selena Forrest has the craziest model origin story: she told New York magazine that when an agency said they wouldn’t sign her since she had braces, she took pliers to her teeth and removed them herself. Ouch, but it definitely paid off. The California teen opened Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2016 show and has already modeled in Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi shows.
5. Fernanda Ly
Australian Fernanda Ly’s perfect cotton-candy-colored hair landed her a spot in a Louis Vuitton show and a whimsical Kate Spade New York Spring 2017 campaign (she starred alongside a camel for some reason).
6. Iskra Lawrence
Body-positive British model Iskra Lawrence is kind of a social media sensation — she’s got over 3 million followers on Instagram and a TED Talk on her resume. She walked in her very first NYFW last season, modeling swimsuits for Chromat, and brands would be smart to book her again this year.
7. Taylor Hill
Kendall, Bella, and Gigi might need to make some room at the top. With 7 million Instagram followers, Taylor Hill's commercial success includes Victoria Secret Angel status and a Topshop campaign. She’s got high fashion cred too: the 20-year-old from Colorado walked in 10 NYFW shows recently, including Marc Jacobs.
8. Anna Ewers
Alexander Wang Squad member Anna Ewers beat out Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid to earn Models.com's Model of the Year in 2015. She did it all without a huge Instagram following, telling The Independent, “I’m not too exposed to social media and is going quite well for me.” That’s an understatement, for sure.
9. Teddy Quinlivan
Teddy Quinlivan is both a runway show and street style fixture. A true fashion fan (with a very funny Instagram feed), W magazine notes that she’s known for “literally leaping in front of street style photographers.”
10. Neelam Gil
Neelam Gil was discovered by Burberry in 2015 and became an “overnight sensation,” as Elle put it. That’s what happens when you walk in Kanye’s Yeezy show, score an Abercrombie campaign and maaaybe date Zayn Malik.
11. Halima Aden
In July, this Minnesota-based stunner made history as the first model to appear on the cover of Allure wearing a hijab. This isn't the only milestone the Midwestern teen has accomplished: she's also graced the runway for designers such as Alberta Ferretti, Max Mara, and—yes—Yeezy.
12. He Cong
The Chinese model began making waves in February, when she sauntered down the runway for hip brands such as Public School, Proenza Schouler, and Sies Marjan. For the Fall 2017 shows, she also lent her swagger to classic labels such as Tory Burch and Michael Kors.
13. Dilone
The name "Dilone" just sounds like a classic, doesn't it? This Long-Island-born stunner has strutted her stuff for brands such as Self-Portrait, La Perla, and Monse. Her big smile, free spirit, and love for travel make Dilone a pleasure to follow on IG, too—no duck faces and blase lounging poses for this talent!
