7 Times Lee Radziwill Personified Elegance
One time, she was riding a camel.
Carole Radziwill recently told us that Lee Radziwill is her favorite style icon. Indeed, the New York socialite, interior designer, and P.R. maven is as glamorous in her eighties as she was in her twenties. "She knows exactly what to wear, and when to wear it," Carole said. "She's totally age appropriate, and I've never seen that woman look anything less than chic." Here's a look back at some of the Lee's impeccable looks through the ages.
In the early 1960s, Lee took her then-toddler son Anthony on world-class adventures—including this trip to Ravello, Italy. Even on the road, her look is chic and streamlined, with not a hair out of place. Consider this: In 1962, Lee and big sis Jackie Kennedy traveled to Pakistan, and took a camel ride while there. Even atop the humped animal, the sisters wore sleeveless summer dresses with pearls and heels, and their hair was perfectly coiffed.
As a fixture on New York's social scene, Lee hit legendary parties including Truman Capote's black-and-white ball. Truman was a great admirer of Lee's style. According to Vanity Fair, he once described her beautiful eyes as: "gold-brown like a glass of brandy resting on a table in front of firelight."
Lee has always been a culture vulture, and dresses to the nines when she champions the arts. Here she is in 1975, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute's American Woman With Style.
And here she is with Jackie, at the Broadway opening of Company in 1970.
Lee has a way with ruffles. This is what she wore to the Museum of Modern Art's Spring Benefit in 1973. She also has a thing for statement earring.
For many years, Lee was a PR executive for Giorgio Armani, and easily showcased the glamour of the designer's classic styles.
Now 83, Lee is as radiant as ever. She never has a hair out of place, and continues to set the standard for fabulous coats.
