Season 1 Episode 4

For the first three challenges, our designers worked independently, demonstrating their design sensibilities, execution proficiencies, and overall attitude and disposition of character.

Not this time.

Now our nine remaining competitors would have to collaborate in three groups of three. Each met privately with singer Sarah Hudson to present their design concepts and receive her feedback. She selected the designers whose work she responded to most and that trio became team leaders, serving as the Head of Design, or design director, for their project.

The three in turn selected their team members in a classic, wincingly painful process that all of us who were the last to be selected for softball remember all too well. (I certainly do!) With six designers under the metaphorical thumb of three of their competitors, this challenge would not only put talent to a test, but egos, too.

And please remember that, owing to the incredible scale of the reward of last week's Banana Republic assignment, the winner of that last challenge, Wendy, does not have immunity this time around.
